Ellevio is one of Sweden's largest energy companies and Sweden's second-largest electricity distribution system operator, delivering electricity to some 940,000 customers. Together with our customers we drive the development towards a fully electrified and sustainable society.
Ellevio’s New Business unit is working to expand our business by proving additional energy services to existing and new customer. We have a particular interest in areas such as battery energy storage and EV charging solutions, which will be part of new complementary customer offerings.
As more transports are being electrified, the need for charging solutions will increase. This includes all modes of transportation including light vehicles, heavy-duty transports, working machines, maritime and aviation and all with different needs of power.
Ellevio is conducting a RFI (Request For Information) to gain more information of the market and identify potential contractors for upcoming projects involving charging infrastructure solutions. For this request, we’re focusing on road transportation such as personal vehicles, light- and heavy-duty trucks and also maritime charging solutions. We’re interested in both AC and DC charging stations (both conductive and inductive interfaces, and busbar solutions).
- Depot and workplace charging. Charging of a fleet of personal vehicles and light- and heavy-duty trucks. Personal vehicles at workplaces will take the opportunity to charge their car during working hours. Light- and heavy-duty trucks will normally stand in the depot for some hours during night. Meaning for these two segments can the output power be lower. Load balancing as a function can be of relevance for charging of fleets.
- Semi-public charging. Semi-public charging focuses on sites for un- and reloading for example terminals and ports. These chargers are public to the ones having access to the site. These will require fast charging while preparing the goods.
- Public charging. Public charging along the road. In most cases these sites will require high-power charging in order to charge fast, however the fast charger could be combined with chargers with less power for those drivers having to take their break.
- Marine charging. Charging solution for ferries at dock/port. The primarily case is commuter ferries, meaning these will have to charge with high power (within 10-15 min).
Findings from this RFI will be used in upcoming tenders of projects that are in need of various charging solutions, starting during 2022. Ellevio aims to purchase a larger number of charging systems over the coming years, from one or more partners.
By asking major contractors that deliver different charging solutions we want to:
(a) ensure that when developing the upcoming technical specification, we consider the current market conditions and capabilities, and;
(b) Identify the shortlist of contractors that we will consider in the upcoming tenders.
Please note that the questions and requirements in this RFI are based on our current market understanding. We value all input from qualified charging solutions suppliers. Even if your company is not able to meet all requirements in the RFI, we nevertheless value your input and will consider you as suppliers for relevant sub-segments.

After the evaluation of the replies, we intend to invite potential contractors to either a physical meeting in Stockholm or digital meeting during the period 22 August – 15 September 2022. During this meeting the supplier will have the opportunity to elaborate his answers.
